Miracle Man – Proof that your mind is bigger than any science

For the many of us who watched Secret movie, Morris Goodman’s name is very familiar, he is the miracle man who survived the plane crash and not only he survived the plane crash but also walked out of the hospital on his feet against all odds and Doctor’s declaration: that he could never walk or breath naturally ever again in his life. For those of you who have not watched secret movie, here is the snapshot of what happened:

On March 10th, 1981, Morris crashed an air plane. His spinal cord was crashed, first and second cervical vertebrae was broken, diaphragm was destroyed, as a result he could not eat, drink or breath without external aid. All he could do was just to blink his eyes. Doctors said that all his life he would live like a vegetable, all he can do is just blink his eyes. Doctors pessimistic views of his condition did not matter to Morris, his mind was saying only one thing “I will walk out of the hospital on my feet by Christmas”. He declared this to everyone, no one knew how will he be able to do it, in fact he did not know it himself, all he got was his mind to work with and make this happen. He was on respiratory system as he could not breath normally, he kept telling himself ‘breath, breath, breath’, after few days he started breathing, in his own words, Doctors had no explanation. For all the time he spent in that hospital, he kept reminding himself his goal to walk out of that hospital by Christmas, he ignored anything that contradicted his goal. His “will” to make what he believed in his own heart is to make it possible and to turn the dream that the medical world considered ‘impossible’ at that time in to a living reality and to the surprise of Doctors and people who watched him in the hospital, Morris Goodman walked out of that hospital by Christmas, on his own feet.

When Morris first declared that he will walk out of that hospital on his own, it might have sounded like a joke to the Medical world, but what happened after that shocked all Doctors in awe. They might have quoted their favorite quote “this was one of the those rare cases where we lack explanation”.

This reminds me of the quote that I read somewhere “Doctor gives you medicine but God is the one who heals”. What it means is, although we think that the medicine helps curing the disease, all medicine can do is trigger the elements that are essential for tackling specific kind of problem in our system. So you see, medicine just helps stimulate the immune system and all the real work is done by our own built-in healing mechanism.

Due to the brain storming we go through every day from all possible sources, in and out, we believe that medicines are directly helping in curing the ailment, where in fact the whole work is being done by our own built-in healing mechanism that any supreme mind can comprehend this ability.
Eventually, we almost forget this fact and we become dependent on the medicine, killing the symptoms that our body shows to indicate a cause, we keep suppressing the symptoms, we fight with the effect without understanding the real cause. The day we start believing in our own healing mechanism and stop rushing to a medical counter for every simple problem we come across, we will let this natural system take over in us and soon we will get to the root of the cause rather than going on a rampage all our lives fighting with the effect. For many of you this might seem too good to be true, if that is the case, I urge you to read Morris story again. As we continue our journey on this path, we are sure to gather more and more real life inspiring stories that will prove that there is no bigger science than our own mind and system that the mightiest has endowed us with.

Morris gave a rather powerful message in the Secret movie (although I am not a big fan of Secret movie, it did have couple of stories that touched my soul, this was one of them), he said “Man becomes what he thinks about”, although ‘Man’ here does not literally mean ‘Man’ here. The truth is every single person has this capacity within them.

There might be more amazing stories out there, story of your own life where you have showed a little faith and did not care what Doctors or others had to say and came out of something victorious or perhaps, you know someone close to you come out of sickness against all the odds. Most of these stories will never make it to mainstream for many obvious reasons, we want to reach out to as many people as possible who are suffering with something terrible with a message that once you believe in yourself and change your attitude things will turn around. We are not suggesting that you do not seek medical help, but medical help coupled with a hopeful attitude can quicken the healing process.
